Optic Review: The Zeiss DTI 3/35 - Rule The Night!
Zeiss has long earned its place among some of the highest quality optics in the world. From their Conquest V4 series to their Victory V8 series, Zeiss has consistently delivered high quality optics at a favorable price and the ALL NEW DTI 3/35 is no exception.
Hunting in the dark of night has always posed a unique challenge with our primary sense of sight significantly impaired. Enter the Zeiss DTI 3/35, a phenomenal thermal imaging monocular/camera with a new intuitive ErgoControl operator system developed by hunters for hunters.

When looking to hunt at night, simply seeing the outline of your desired target is not sufficient. Being able to accurately identify your prey and clearly see the details of your target makes all the difference between a precisely placed killshot and a near miss that will leave you with regret.
With Zeiss, you are always guaranteed clear and crisp optics and with the DTI 3/35 it’s high-resolution HD LCOS display delivers images with all the detail you will ever need to reliably identify your target, even in pitch black darkness. One concern that may arise is in this pitch black darkness how will you even operate the DTI 3/35 accurately, that is where the ErgoControl operator system comes into play. Ergonomically designed with intelligent positioning of the buttons, each function can be controlled in your hands natural position. The perfectly shaped control elements can be identified quickly and even allows for one-handed operation.
To say the DTI 3/35 is state-of-the-art technology is no overestimate. It offers four different color modes giving you the capability to choose the setting best fitting to your situation. You have ‘Black Hot’ and ‘White Hot’ for high contrast images which is great for easy detection, recognition and identification. On the other hand, you have the ‘Rainbow’ mode which is ideal for detecting the smallest variations in temperature.
Now for one of my favorite features of the DTI 3/35, it’s 'Hot Tracking' mode, which quickly identifies the warmest source in the image is framed with a red square. The tremendous benefit of this feature is self-evident.
Onto the zoom capabilities of the DTI 3/35, you have a 4x digital zoom with fine, gradual 0.5x zoom increments making for a great combination of magnification and detail recognition. Another great feature of the DTI 3/35 is it’s 50 Hz display frame rate. Essentially, the higher the display frame rate the less flickering of the image you have allowing for a much crisper image while the target is moving.
Topping it all off, using the Zeiss’ Hunting App, hunters can transfer data from the DTI 3/35 directly to a smartphone via WLAN and even live stream their nighttime hunting adventures.
