Revolver Review: The Colt King Cobra

The King is Back!

Ever since Colt's re-entry into the revolver market back in 2017 with the Cobra in .38 Special, the industry has been persistently asking for a .357 Mag version of the Cobra. A few months back in the 2019 SHOT Show, Colt finally answered with the unveiling of the King Cobra.

Colt’s latest “snake gun” is the resurrected King Cobra, featuring a heavy-duty stainless steel frame complete with a full-underlug, 3" barrel and a six-round, fluted cylinder.

It’s the first new .357 Mag. in 20 years from the company that invented the revolver.

Upgrades Include:

An enlarged trigger guard for use with a glove
A user-interchangeable brass-bead front sight
Colt’s innovative LL2 spring trigger that produces an in-line hammer drop
Form-fitting Hogue Overmolded rubber stocks with finger grooves

Shoot-ability is also aided by the fact the new King weighs 28 ounces, and while that’s a little heavy by today’s carry-gun standards, it helps manage the firepower of the .357 Magnum and conceals nicely. Snake Gun fans will naturally see parallels to first-generation King Cobras from the 1980s-’90s.
