Shotgun Review: The Benelli ETHOS Sport Series
Benelli is a company that never stops thinking about innovative ways to improve their firearms and the ETHOS Sport is no exception. With it's introduction in 2014, came a new gold standard for combining both form and function into a single sporting shotgun.
Since it's unveiling, it has won numerous award from several firearm publication worldwide and a mainstay for wingshooters of all varieties. The ETHOS Series has been expanded to bring unparalleled performance and shootability sport shooters.
THE SYSTEM
The ETHOS shotgun line has proven to be an elegant and reliable shotgun incorporating Benelli's latest innovations, refinements, and design superiority. At the center like so many of Benelli's finest, is the renowned Interia Driven System.
Like the Super Black Eagle 3 or the Montefeltro, the Interia Driven System is what drives the ETHOS Sport. It goes without saying that when it comes to speed, reliability, and cleanliness, gas-operated systems cannot compare to the Interia Driven system which is known to be able to fire 500,000+ rounds and still function without flaw.
The advantages of the Interia Driven System are numerous, it eliminates the need for adjusting all while maintaining a very simple design consisting of three main parts: bolt body, inertia spring, and a rotating bolt head. Whether it be a low-power 2-inch shell or a high-power magnum load it never requires adjusting and cycles consistently in any condition.
Another beauty factor of the ETHOS Sport Series, is the elegantly figured AA-grade walnut stock that it features. They are also outfitted with attractively engraved nickel-plated receivers.

ERGONOMICS
ETHOS shotguns are the perfect combination of the latest technologies and the traditional style you've come to expect from Benelli.
Based on the standard Ethos field model, these ETHOS Sport shotguns come with a recoil-absorbing cheek comb pad twice the size of those found on previous versions. Utilizing Benelli's Progressive Comfort tech, felt recoil is significantly reduced, making shooting all the more fun.
The Progressive Comfort recoil reduction system incorporates three sets of patented interlocking flexible buffers that absorb recoil at different stages dependent on the strength of the shotgun shell’s load.
These 3 sets of fingers each have a different elasticity, and the load used determines which sets of fingers are utilized for maximum recoil reduction. The first set of fingers is very flexible for light loads, the second set a bit stiffer for field loads, and the third set is optimized for heavy magnum loads. The ETHOS Sport Series also incorporates a raised, carbon fiber sporting rib and barrel to allow for faster and more effective follow up shots. Addtionally, the barrel lengths have been increased, which optimizes the “smooth swinging” of the ETHOS Sport, and enhanced ergonomic features make operating this shotgun a breeze
